So far, I have been doing really well with filling out my applications. There hasn't been much stress or pressure having to do with the application process. However, the only question that I do not know is how to pick a school. What qualities should I look for in a school? So far I am hoping that I made decent choices about the schools I decided to apply to. The schools I am interested in is UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, San Jose State, and San Diego State. I picked these school based on the programs they offer, the community, and least importantly- the location. I plan on applying for a few more schools; however, these are my narrowed down choices right now. Each school has some sort of quality I find interesting. I am afraid that I will get accepted to some of these schools and have a hard time agreeing to pick one that I feel I would want to attend next fall. I also feel that picking a major has a huge affect on what I want to do and where I want to go. I am aware that it is normal to enter college with a specific major and graduate with another degree. The thing is, I don't think it would be safe or me to declare undecided. I want to get into and out of college as quickly as possible because I know that college can turn out to be expensive. In conclusion, I just wish that I go to college somewhere where I feel comfortable and settled with the school and its community.

Hi Jada, I completely understand the situation you are in right now. College can be challenging and confusing, especially trying to find the right one. My advice to you is to set up a list of pros and cons for the colleges you've applied to. First off, i think you should narrow your choices a little more to have the best possible outcome for your college experience and education. Hope this personal info helped out a bit!

Good afternoon Jada, I relate to your situation heavily. After high school, we get so overwhelmed because we don't even know what qualities we want to see in different colleges. Or what qualities we can relate to. I think you should pick whatever school you find more appealing to you because it's your life. Be confident in whatever decision you make for yourself. I wish you the best of luck and i hope you figure out what college best suites you.

Hey Jada!!! I understand your struggle. I think often times when we are left with so many “un-sures” it makes decision making even harder. I think you should pick the school that best fits what you're looking for in a college. This meaning it caters to what majors you're interested in, it has a community you will be comfortable in, and it will be a school you can fall in love with. When you decide a major, I think, a huge deciding factor for you will be what school is the best for that major. It's always important to go to a school that is good for your studies but I think it's even more important to go somewhere you will love. My advice is go to a college that you love and would love to be apart of that community. When you enjoy the community you are in your college experience will be even better. I am confident that you will make the right choice for you. Best of luck!!!

Hi Jada! I think we all can relate to the situation you are experiencing. Even though the college application process wasn't a struggle for you, the choice on where you want to go is. Which ever one you choose will be the one you will be spending your next 4 years at unless you transfer. So I understand why you are so concerned about choosing the right one. I say pick the one that offers the majors that interest you in case you want to keep or change it. I also suggest that you visit the colleges that you applied to so that you can get a feel of the campus and see if that is where you see yourself belonging. I believe that it's okay to have your major as undeclared because most people are unsure. Once you have more time you will discover what really interest you. Good luck Jada! I wish you nothing but success!!

Hey Jada, I have had similar questions to this. Qualitites in schools are the most important factor in deciding where you want to attend. Climate, location, academics, activities, etc. can be very important. However, some of these matter more than the others. Of course, you might not get all of the choices you want from these categories but that is okay. You can step outside your comfort zone and create memories you wont forget and thats the most important part; receiving an education while having fun. Good luck finding that college!
