Will I make it throughout college?

Going to college is a very important step for me and for my family.  If I were to get accepted into a college, I would be the first in my family to attend.  Don't get me wrong, college sounds great and I can't wait for what is to come for me and my future.  But, I know that there will be a few bumps on the road as they come.  Personally, I am not a huge fan of stress and I don't think anyone is either, and the big question for me is, will I be able to get through this tough milestone, will I be able to handle the financial debt, that is only if I don't get approved for financial aid, how will that affect my family and etc.  Obviously it is a lot to think about and I don't want to feel as if I am a burden to my family, even if I am not able to get through it all.  I know that I could be able to work on campus and eventually help out with the finance, but will that ever be enough?  I have seen some of my family members drop out of college because they are so stressed out, that they can't seem to live a normal life, and of course college will do that to you because you are devoting your time and knowledge into hours of schoolwork, which I have no problem with.  All I am asking is what do you think I should do?  How can I make my college life a little less harder once I step on campus?  Do you feel the same as I do?

  1. Hello Melanie, I feel your pain and hardships. It is very reasonable and understanding to be feeling the way you are. I personally believe after knowing you for so long that you will do fine, to be frank I think you will do better. I think college will allow you to excel in receiving an education. Seems like you have financial troubles and I understand what you are going through. I myself am facing financial troubles just like you. I hope I will not have to drop out of college, however if I need to get a job I will do what is necessary in order to receive my education. To make college life better for you I think you should either join Greek life or clubs that fit your interest. At college there are over of hundreds of clubs available for your choosing. Melanie as long as you remain optimistic and hard working then I believe you will be able to succeed in the future inside and out side of college. I wish the best to you- Bryan Tovar

  2. Yes Melanie of course you will get through college. There will be some tough times throughout your journey throughout college but that shouldn't effect your college experience. Your obviously stressed... just take a chill pill slow down, everything will work out the way you want it to be in the end. Positive thoughts.

  3. Melanie, I also feel the stress of going to college. Sometimes I wonder if I will make it too, I don’t even know what I want to go to school for. I thought I had a good plan and now I am stuck trying to figure things out before I step foot on campus. If you are interested in a career path I suggest you go to workshops if the school you end up going to offers them. I went to one and found it very helpful and was able to realize that that was not the path for me. Do you know what you’re interested in yet? I would love to know. Dont worry I know you will make it through college!
