Dealing with online trolls is something that I feel cannot be prevented. However as technology progresses, I think that we will eventually be able to prevent the chaos that online trolls have caused. Online trolls are people that hide behind a computer screen, and gain satisfaction from hurting people; however, the only reason they are able to do this is because they cannot physically see the pain that they have brought to their victims. The cause of online trolling ultimately began with the rise of social media. Social media can be a good thing, but over the years people have abused it. At first, social media was meant to bring people together, but now it just seems to be causing so many problems. Another thing that people have abused over time is their right to freedom of speech and expression. This ties in with online trolling because people feel that they can say whatever they want online without facing any consequences. Ultimately, I think that it's just best to ignore or block online trolls because if you let it show that they have hurt you, it gives them the satisfaction to keep trolling.

Many of us have experienced a form of contact bullying from one point to another in the duration of our school experience; this could be from friends or even family members. When internet trolls are attacking you it seems so much more impactful and embarrassing, as it can feel very traumatizing. It seems like not much of a way to stop these trolls besides ignoring them. They justify their shaming as a right and freedom of expression; like-minded trolls validate the shame as acceptable. We have to stand up to these trolls let them know that it is not okay to violate another human (I.e slut-shame, fat-shame, post racial slurs, reinforce negative stereotypes) and it is simply not okay to post divisive comments against other humans. Although internet trolls mainly target women they too effect others no matter the race, size, gender, etc. We should stand up for humanity not ignore the issue anymore. Although ignoring the issue is the only way that we've practiced for so long through most incounters.
You are so right Hannah. But where do we draw the line and say hey troll don't mess with me anymore this is not okay. When someone is trying to harm themselves? We can't just ignore the problem if it keeps on showing up. So what should you do to stop the trolls from consistently attacking you online besides ignoring them?
