Net Neutrality
I am personally pissed off (sorry for the language Ms. Fletcher). The thing that I really don’t understand about this whole net neutrality thing is that nobody really thought about how much it effects every day life. From what I’ve been told about net neutrality, I’ve learned that it’s this, whoever is in charge can regulate our internet and how fast different things go. Also, that we are going to have to pay for everything we want to use, ranging from the internet, to Facebook, to Instagram, to twitter, and to Snapchat, along with so much more. The internet is what makes me so mad. How are people in school supposed to go home and do research for homework and papers? Is every student in America expected to go to the library and do everything there? That’s just unrealistic. This may sound a bit dramatic, but net neutrality could ruin everything that we have been used to for so long. We use the internet to research, to buy stuff, to talk to people, society in America literally revolves around the internet. I personally find out most of my information from I twitter and Snapchat. Everyone should have the equal opportunity to use the internet, if not, then it’s just not fair. This country has been going down hill since last November, and it’s just getting worse. Thanks trump :-)

Hello Jaelyn,
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I feel the same way about the repeal of net neutrality. I was a pretty big advocate for keeping neutrality so I can probably explain some things. The vote to repeal net neutrality was done in the FCC not in congress. As a result, our congressmen had absolutely no say on the repeal. In the FCC there are five board members that vote for things. Sadly, just like the president, congress, and the senate the FCC has mostly Republican board members. Specifically, 3 Republicans and 2 Democrats. The vote was 3 in favor of repeal from Republicans and 2 for no repeal from Democrats. The public had no say in this at all which makes me so angry. Such a important topic that encompasses so many people should not be voted on by 5 people it should be voted in Congress. However, there is still hope since the supreme court can strike this down. Until then enjoy your internet while you still can.
Hello Jaelyn, I totally agree with your opinion on net neutrality. The internet is something that we have grown so accustomed to using, and it is free. Students like us use google and other search websites frequently to help us study and look up important information. So basically they are going to make us pay to study? I think that net neutrality is extremely uncalled for, and unfair. The internet is such a vital part of our lives, and we use it on a day to day basis. Personally, I use social media to keep in contact with family and friends, and I use the internet for homework and studying. This whole ordeal is unrealistic and will hopefully not be taken any further than it is. The internet should be a fair and easy to access place where everyone has an equal opportunity to use it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Jaelyn, net neutrality is something I wish was never passed. The internet is a very important tool that we do use on a everyday scale from checking our phones, to finishing up class papers, to searching the web and much more. Now they want us to pay for something we had received free for so long, and if we don't pay we would have to try to find another solution like going to the library. America makes me so mad always doing unnecessary things like passing net neutrality.
